IN THE BEGINNING
Schellenger's began in 1979 when John and Irene Karros, along with Tony and Valerie Trivelis, transformed the El Rancho steakhouse into a seafood featuring extravagant nautical decor. With a large menu offering a diverse selection of seafood, steak, and pasta, Schellenger's has been a family favorite in Wildwood for over 30 years, known for its rooftop displays and extensive offerings. The nautical-themed rooftop has attracted attention, serving as a wedding backdrop and a film set for "The Shore." Guests, particularly children, often ask about access to the rooftop, which is off-limits. Inside, the nautical theme continues with murals and an aquarium that entertains visitors. We provide more than seafood and invite you to join us for a delightful dining experience.
OUR MENU
Schellenger's boasts one of the most extensive menus in the area. The owners and chef are committed to the menu annually to keep their customers delighted. "There's always something new for people to try. We enjoy updating the menu, adding new items, and sometimes removing an item." They draw inspiration from their travels, incorporating diverse menu items, decor ideas, and innovative cocktails. "It's the exciting part of preparing for the season!" Each year, they craft fantastic recipes for diners to enjoy. The main menu features a wide selection, including various lobster dishes, seafood, steaks, poultry, pasta, and sandwiches. From filets to an array of seafood every dish is prepared with special ingredients, offering a dining experience reminiscent of a vacation. One of our signature meals is the Lobster Feast, which includes a whole lobster, clams mussels, shrimp, scallops, and fresh fish sautéed in olive oil, garlic, and white wine, served over linguini. Guests can also indulge in a selection of delightful desserts. Another highlight of dining at Schellenger's is their renowned specialty martinis and cocktails, including the Captain's or Mate's Specialty served in a signature glass with our logo that the customers get to keep. Many patrons enjoy favorites like mojitos, coladas, margaritas, and other frozen drinks.
US NOW
The next generation has now taken over the restaurant. As "Uncle Tony" and Valerie Trivelis wanted to retire, John and Irene's daughter, Bessie, and son-in-law, Angelo have now join the crew. Bessie and Angelo both worked for Schellenger's in the 80's and then left to go on their own and went into partnership with the Vegas Diner, where they had much success. But with Uncle Tony and Aunt Val retiring they decided to come back to their beginnings and help with the family business. They will continue the same quality of food and service that has always been a standard for Schellenger's Restaurant. Been coming to Wildwood for years and this was our first time here. Always wanted to try because of the fun decor on the outside. Glad we did. Service was great and the food was just as good. Looking forward to coming back
